We could theoretically see “Stone Cold” Steve Austin wrestle again.
According to reports, he was approached by a fan, who asked if he would wrestle again given he’s still in good shape. Austin reportedly said that in theory, he could.
All pretense aside, it would be awesome to see him wrestle again, but it’d have to be under the right conditions.
Who to face
To be perfectly honest, most of us would probably love to see him and Triple H or the Undertaker again, but there’s a host of others. There’s really only a couple of superstars that could pull of a match with Austin and make it look good. The top of the list could be AJ Styles, since he’s been the most recent fly in the ointment. Dolph Ziggler would be another, but given his current rise as a tag team champion, this would derail his current push.
Styles would be the perfect choice as he’s still one of the top performers in the world, and given his similarities to Shawn Michaels, it’d be a fun rehashing of their 90s feud for the heavyweight championship.
Austin recently said he’d help the WWE anyway he can, so if this ever comes to pass, it’d be a pretty cool way to usher in the new era.
Is it practical?
Of course, this is purely conjecture as a match is unlikely to happen. As much as the WWE loves bringing back their old talent to put over the new, the fact Austin retired due to complications with his neck would limit him.
As much as this would be great to see, having him risk further injury is something most of us aren’t comfortable with. In the end, it’ll be his and Vince’s decision. Whatever that’ll be.
