Last night at the Royal Rumble, we witnessed ‘The Rated R Superstar’ return to the ring. He entered at #21 and made it all the way to the final four, nearly punching his ticket to another Wrestlemania. Fans everywhere were ecstatic to see him back, and everyone is curious what is next for Edge.
A Feud Rated RKO
In the Royal Rumble, we would see Edge align himself with his old ally in Randy Orton. This was until Edge realized Orton was going to try and hit an RKO on him. He would promptly throw Orton out of the ring. Everyone knows the Rumble is a one against all situation, and even friends will often have their judgement clouded by a chance at Wrestlemania glory.
They showed great chemistry, and be it as tag team partners or rival, with Edge back he needs someone reliable for his first major program back. Edge & Randy Orton are two of the most experienced men in the backstage area, and they have only faced off a handful of times in singles action across their career. Only one of these encounters was on PPV at Over The Limit 2010 which ended in a double count out.
Fans would be happy to see two legends face off at Wrestlemania, and Edge vs. Randy Orton would fill that spot perfectly.
Could Edge Join The Fight Against Seth Rollins?
The biggest story on Monday Night RAW right now is that of Seth Rollins, Authors of Pain, and Bubby Murphy all joining forces to wreck havoc on the brand. They are currently opposed by Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, & Aleister Black. While they certainly have a ton of talent and experience, they need someone more cunning at their helm. This could be Edge. He and Seth Rollins have some history, with Rollins once holding Edge hostage as leverage to get John Cena to reinstate the Authority. After he got what he wanted, he still wanted to Curb Stomp Edge and end more than his career.
With Edge seeming to be back full time, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep him in a large scale feud like this one until WWE has a better idea of what he is still capable of, and working with young talent like AoP and Buddy Murphy would help to elevate their young careers.
