WWE has recently hopped into the market of podcasts, with Corey Graves ‘After The Bell’ being the first shot into this growing industry. Many wrestlers have their own podcast these days, be it Stone Cold, Chris Jericho, Colt Cabana, Edge & Christian, X-Pac, etc. It’s a common sight to see, and WWE getting into it was a smart move.
Corey Graves’s Podcast Style
With only two episodes of After The Bell in the books, Graves has presented an honest look into the state of WWE, stating he won’t let the corporate culture bog down his shows, which many are skeptical of. He has interviewed people like Seth Rollins, Triple H, Bayley & Ric Flair. The WWE connection will make getting huge guests easy for Graves, but you really can’t help but feel the aura of WWE looming over it, making anything said harder to trust than if an alumni talent interviews someone. It really isn’t my cup of tea, but then again neither is Corey Graves on commentary.
The Potential Of A New Day Podcast
While the certainly have their detractors, The New Day have without a doubt been one of the most consistently entertaining things in professional wrestling in recent years. Be it their matches, their promos, Big E’s twitter when he was injured and trying to get with Becky Lynchs mom; they’re just insanely entertaining. Xavier Woods runs the Up Up Down Down Youtube channel which has over a million subscribers, and adding a podcast to their lives would simply be a blessing for everyone.
You could just have those three talking about anything and it would be one of the funniest podcasts going, especially if they brought their same level of enthusiasm they bring to everything else they do. They are simply so inherently likable that a podcast is a great project for them to take on. Just imagine Big E dropping innuendos about everything, Woods slowly going insane because of his injury, and Kofi trying to playing straight man and keep everyone on track. It sounds like a recipe for pure entertainment.
Just because a trademark is filed, doesn’t mean it will actually happen. WWE files plenty of trademarks that ultimately go nowhere, and I’m hoping this isn’t one of those situations, as I know I would love to start some of my mornings with some Power of Positivity in audio form to go with a box of Booty-O’s; and I can’t be alone on this. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for this for sure.
Until then, we can get a dose of positivity on Friday Nights, were Kofi Kingston & Big E just recently claimed the teams seventh tag team champion. Xavier Woods is set to be injured until atleast Spring of 2020 with an ACL related injury
