Earlier today, Seth Rollins shared on his twitter that he has some things to think about career-wise following Crown Jewel and will make his announcement on Raw.
Whatever Seth Rollins’ announcement is, it has the internet faithful going back and forth in an entertaining, and somewhat heated exchange.
Retirement
As expected, there are those hoping for him to retire.
This is highly doubtful as he’s still young and has a boatload of ability, but there is always the chance he may have second thoughts about things given the recent twenty-four hour layover in Saudi Arabia for 200 of his fellow superstars and WWE workers.
He may want to try other venues after recently stating, “I became the person they wanted me to be, and they hated me for it,” during an interview where he admitted his frustration at why the fans turned on him after beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, reminding fans why many once called Bret Hart a crybaby in the process. It also shows a disconnect with fans that’s prevalent in the WWE as it’s fairly easy to point to him becoming a goofy face and being shoved down the fans’ throats harder each week as the start. He should’ve gone hardcore heel after winning or stayed an anti-hero, as the majority of fans begged for on social media.
As easy as it is to lay this at his feet, it honestly wasn’t his fault. He busted his backside to sell the gimmick he was given. We just weren’t buying it. It’d be a shame to see his talent go elsewhere, like say NXT?
Move to NXT
This is the second most obvious choice as he could join Finn Balor in the house they helped build.
Returning to one’s roots is done regularly bay musicians, actors, and sports stars as a way of finding or reinventing themselves. This would be a pretty good move for him as it’d give him a chance to breath without the weight of the entire promotion on his shoulders.
This is highly unlikely as NXT already has their stars in place and adding another could complicate things. More than that, it’d leave a large hole in the main roster that may or may not be filled in the near future. Still, there’s always a chance.
Moving to Smackdown
This is the most popular and most likely action, as it keeps him away from Brock Lesnar and continuing that feud, and gives him a chance to chase after his coveted Universal championship and continue his already tired feud with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.
Of course, he could be going there for other reasons like to rejoin Roman Reigns and reform the Shield. Throw in Braun Strowman possibly joining them, and they’d give Smackdown an awesome stable to work with as either face or heel. Just in time for Survivor Series and to face the OC and/or the Undisputed Era. Now that would be a match.
Of course, there’s also the rumor about Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns feuding toward a match at WrestleMania. Sure, it’s a long way off and some parts have shifted, but there’s no reason for them not to start this. Especially given the rumors have them facing off for the Universal championship, so either of them could defeat the Fiend in the near future. Possibly in a triple threat match where the Fiend isn’t pinned? Just a thought.
Whatever Seth Rollins announces, it should be interesting to see which of these shake loose.
