Ladies and gentlemen, Friday Night SmackDown is over halfway done and hams have been smacked. Yes, that’s right, you heard me.
Earlier in the show, Heavy Machinery – Otis Dozovich and Tucker – came up to Sami Zayn backstage, after having drawn him as a Secret Santa. Their gift for him was a Christmas ham, much to Sami Zayn’s dismay. He told them he was a vegan and that to him, this was but a slaughtered animal that’d spent it’s life in torture. They tried to apologize but Sami would see none of it and things got a bit more tense when Sami’s charges, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro came into frame.
A challenge for a tag match was made, Heavy Machinery vs. Cesaro & Shinsuke. The segment then concluded with Cesaro taking Otis’ ham and dumping it onto the floor. Otis was boiling with rage after this.
Later on, the two teams squared off. You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Crowd chants “We Want Otis” as he’s begging for a tag! Shinsuke with right hands, Tucker gets a boot up off a charge, Thesz Press takes Shinsuke down! He crawls over closer to the corner… simultaneous tags, Otis is a house of fire! Plowing through everybody, overhead belly to bellies! Cesaro comes in, boot to the gut but he jiggles! Headbutt, hoists him up, overhead throw! Yells “I’M COMIN” and charges but Shinsuke with a leaping roundhouse kick, Cesaro with an uppercut, PK from Shinsuke! Tucker has to break up the pin but gets deposited from the ring. Shinsuke wants the Kinsasha but Otis grabs him mid-run! Tag to Tucker, they want the Compactor, Cesaro pulls Shinsuke out of harms way. Otis with the Avalanche onto Cesaro, who falls to the mat! The crowd rises to their feet as Otis goes for the caterpillar, legit the loudest they’ve been so far! But Sami distracts! Cesaro throws Otis to the floor, Shinsuke with the Kinsasha to Tucker for the victory.
Winners: Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
Shinsuke was supposedly going to defend his title against Braun Strowman at TLC but he’s still not healthy enough for it, so he needed something else to do and the result was a real good tag match. But man, why Heavy Machinery aren’t tag champs as we speak is really beyond me. Just can’t help but think they should be presented better, they risk dampening the hot responses that they get.
