Capping off this three day weekend of major wrestling shows, it’s another WWE PPV Sunday tonight! I know! It feels like we’ve just been here! If you’re counting WWE Starrcade, and really you shouldn’t but in some ways you can, WWE have run a PPV-level show on three of the last four Sundays! That is somewhat overkill! But it comes to a close tonight, as it’s our last big event before the Royal Rumble kicks off WrestleMania season! And before that we have an interesting night of action awaiting us in the form of WWE TLC!
Looking at this card, I can’t help but think this is one of those shows that’ll either be completely spectacular or a total disaster. Just sorta have that feeling. And yannow what, that’s pretty exciting! So let’s get to the previews.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match: The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) (c) vs. Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair
Soooo this should be incredible. In theory, it could well be match of the night, though it will be a challenge to top the other tag title match that’s going on tonight. But for my money, this is the most significant match, given that Becky Lynch is The Man and all, Raw Women’s Champion which is theoretically supposed to be on par with a world title, and she’s actually going after yet more gold here. Not to mention that it’s a titular Tables, Ladders and Chairs match with actual gold on the line, unlike Reigns and Corbin.
So yeah, it’s what I’d absolutely pick to main event, which means it will probably open the main card. Oh well. Should be a lot of fun regardless, and it’s a difficult one to pick in some ways. It’s still thought that we’re eventually leading to Asuka challenging Becky Lynch for the WWE Raw Women’s title in what at this point seems like an anniversary rematch at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Whether that means she beats Becky on this occasion once more to set that up, or Becky takes the tag titles from her prompting her to go for revenge, is kind of a toss-up.
In some ways actually I think the finish I expect is dependent on placement on the card. If this were at the start of the show, Kabukis would retain. If it closed it, I’d definitely think Becky and Charlotte stand tall. Sooo I think I’ll just try and will this into being a main event by picking Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
