Capping off this three day weekend of major wrestling shows, it’s another WWE PPV Sunday tonight! I know! It feels like we’ve just been here! If you’re counting WWE Starrcade, and really you shouldn’t but in some ways you can, WWE have run a PPV-level show on three of the last four Sundays! That is somewhat overkill! But it comes to a close tonight, as it’s our last big event before the Royal Rumble kicks off WrestleMania season! And before that we have an interesting night of action awaiting us in the form of WWE TLC!
Looking at this card, I can’t help but think this is one of those shows that’ll either be completely spectacular or a total disaster. Just sorta have that feeling. And yannow what, that’s pretty exciting! So let’s get to the previews.
The Viking Raiders – Erik & Ivar – to put their WWE Raw Tag Team Championships on the line in an open challenge.
The Viking Raiders aka War Raiders aka War Machine have been on quite the war path since joining Raw. They have yet to be pinned in a straight-up 2-on-2 tag match. (You don’t hear the term two-on-two thrown around much, do you? Nobodies’ really tried getting “Go two-on-two with the Great Two” off the ground as a catchphrase…)
In their minds they’ve already beaten everyone quite definitively, so they’ve started with these open challenges. It should be noted however that one of the caveats in their undefeated streak is that they did not win the tag team gauntlet at WWE Crown Jewel, where the OC actually did manage to defeat them on the way to being crowned the “Best Tag Team In The World”. And Gallows and Anderson made a point to call out the Viking Raiders last week on Raw, seemingly foreshadowing that they will be answering this challenge.
However the mere fact that it’s been foreshadowed gives me pause, since these are meant to be a surprise. Perhaps AOP will be jumping to the front of the line instead? It could really be any tandem… what do you think?
Stuff like this is kinda cheating out those who want to make predictions, but for the sake of it, I’ll say champs retain.
