WWE 2K20 Cover Stars & Details Revealed

Over the last few days, plenty of details have been released about WWE 2K20. First things first, the game drops on October 22nd. As always, it will see releases on the PS4, Xbox One and Windows. And the cover stars are none other than Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch, proving that the folks at 2K read our articles! Becky is of course the first woman to have the distinction.

We also know that the rumors are true… a Showcase mode focusing on the Women’s Evolution will be included in the game! WWE’s Showcase is a long-running mode in which you play through real-life WWE storylines and feuds of year’s past. This is the first time any of them have focused on female wrestlers, and they spared no expense with it, as it details the journey of the Four Horsewomen, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and of course Becky Lynch herself.

As always, this will include WWE footage as well as exclusive interviews from the women in question on their respective careers.

The revolution spreads to My Career Mode as well.

Last year, 2K put forth a fine new storymode seeing you take an upstart wrestler of your own creation through WWE’s system. While we don’t know too much about the storyline for WWE 2K20, it’s been made clear that both male and female CAWs (create-a-wrestlers) are available this time around. Judging by the footage, you might be able to play as both at once or perhaps in a form of co-op mode?

This year, the Pre-Order Bonus is a SmackDown 20th Anniversary edition. This will feature Hulk Hogan in his first appearance since 2K15 as well as Chyna, appearing in a game for the first time since SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role all the way back in 2000! Chyna left on bad terms with WWE and only seemed to grow more and more distant from them in the years before her death. But there’s nothing like losing someone for good that makes you remorseful of these situations. Whatever the reason, it’ll be nice to see her back in a legend position where she belongs. And with the general vibe of this game, it’s a good time to honor her.

Major features from the previous also make their return. These include the typical creation suite, where you can make your own superstars, titles, arenas and more. Plus, the WWE Universe and 2K Towers Modes also make their return. And as always, there will be a big focus on a humongous roster of talent, past and present.

Plus… the debut of 2K Originals.

This is something they’re keeping somewhat mum about. But 2K Originals will see wrestlers ‘reimagined’ in fantastical new ways. Teaser images showed the likes of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt depicted as monsters. 2K announced last year that they were looking to lean more on fantasy, arcade fun with their game. So this certainly seems like a step further in that direction.

With this game also comes a solemn goodbye to Yuke’s.

The Japanese development company has had some hand in every major WWE video game dating back to the original WWF SmackDown! on the PlayStation. But 2K Sports have announced that they have parted ways, with Visual Concepts taking over the role instead. WWE 2K20 will thusly be the first game in nearly twenty years to have no involvement from Yuke’s.

I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.
