There will of course be several triple threat matches at WWE Survivor Series 2019 pitting WWE’s three main brands against themselves. One of them includes the respective tag team champions. WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders vs. WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly of the Undisputed Era.
This match was among the eight announced for the main card, but it’s now set to take place on the WWE Survivor Series Kickoff show instead.
The New Day vs. The Undisputed Era vs. The Viking Raiders Match Moved To WWE Survivor Series 2019 Kickoff Show
It’s always a bit of a sad thing when a match gets announced for a show’s main card but ends up getting bumped. It feels like a pretty direct demotion. While there really shouldn’t be anything too bad with getting a pre-show spot, it’s been neglected for years and thus has a very negative stigma attached. It’s very lesser, and is thought of as easily skippable. And it can be a shame, because talented folks often get put into the spot and try their hardest, only to usually get crickets – sometimes wrestling in front of crowds that are still filing in!
For Kofi Kingston in particularly it’s gotta be a bit humbling. The guy was the WWE Champion last month and now he’s effectively in the preliminaries. I’m sure this has more to do with the Viking Raiders struggling to get over on the main roster than anything else, but still, it highlights the fall he’s had.
In theory it’s great to have a kickoff where people who aren’t able to make the main card can still get showcased. In practice, sometimes it seems like it only serves to hurt people’s image putting them on there.
