Superstars such as Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt have enjoyed stellar 2019’s, but there are some members of the roster that have gone stale over the past 12 months. A face turn could see these superstars get back on the upward trajectory in 2020.
A turn in character can have an immediate impact on their chances in the WWE, as we have recently seen fans become more engaged in Rollins following his alignment with AOP. However, which superstars could we see turn face as we enter 2020?
Mojo Rawley
It is fair to say that the experiment of having Rawley as a heel has failed. He has spent much of 2019 on Main Event and is rarely seen on SmackDown or Raw. There were rumours that he was about to team up with Sami Zayn, but that also seems destined to fail. The WWE’s best bet is to turn him face again.
He has stagnated over the past 12 months, and his greatest achievements have come when he has been a face. Although, those successes are few and far between, with the only standout moment in his career came by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Mania.
Sonya Deville
Shayna Baszler will likely be called up to Raw or SmackDown at some point in the near future, and Deville would make for an interesting first opponent for the NXT champion. Both have a history of MMA, and it would be a waste if this isn’t explored. Baszler is too hot as a heel to turn, which means Deville would need to do the honours.
Fans have been given an insight into her real-life personality on Total Divas, and there is a whole LGBTQ route that the WWE could explore with Deville as a babyface.
Cesaro
You wouldn’t find many WWE fans that don’t like Cesaro. It is a miscarriage of justice that he hasn’t enjoyed a WWE title run yet, but maybe a face turn could set him on the path to doing just that. He is far too entertaining to be a heel for another year, which means could see a turn before too long.
The imminent return of Sheamus could also ensure that he turns face, so we could see a battle between the two members of The Bar for the first time since 2016. We would also get to see Cesaro come up against fresh opponents, and these matches would likely be barnstormers.
