Hey! WWE Starrcade is tonight! Did… did you know that? It’s true! There’s honest-to-God gonna be a show of that name on the WWE Network tonight! And it’s got a whole PPV card and everything! Looks like a lot of fun! But unfortunately we’re only set to get a fraction of it… yeah, of the seven matches taking place, we’re only seeing two of them. An hour’s worth of a three hour event.
Just for completion’s sake, I feel compelled to give a bit of a preview of what’s to come for those live in attendance in Duluth, Georgia. Us watching at home won’t be seeing these matches but they’re happening all the same, and I will be reporting the results of them later tonight.
For briskness’ sake, I’ll just say that every champion will be retaining. I don’t know that for a fact obviously, they’ve changed champions at much smaller house shows than this, but that’s certainly the prediction.
Steel Cage Match for the WWE Universal Championship: The Fiend Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Braun Strowman
This is a match that theoretically would have a lot of history to build off of, given that Braun was once one of Bray Wyatt’s family, and earlier this year also became one of the Fiend’s first victims, as seen in this article’s header image. The two will be squaring off here in this cage match that will no doubt be impossible to see due to being drenched in red lights.
Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
We’ve seen this feud play out for a number of months now and likely will continue to see it until TLC on December 15th. What this means is that the people in Duluth will get to see Roman Reigns trounce the king two weeks before everyone else does.
Seth Rollins vs. Erick Rowan
This is funny, given Rollins’ recent turn. It kinda exposes how unplanned that decision was, eh? I suppose Rowan might be playing the babyface in this match now? Who really knows. But Rollins will beat him either way.
Handicap Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Shinsuke Nakamura (c) & Sami Zayn vs. The Miz
Sami Zayn is wrestling so of course it’s not on TV. Honestly the match will probably be booked to make him look like a non-wrestler anyway so we’re probably not missing too much there. But I gotta tell you, no matter how long Nak’s been here in WWE, it’ll never stop being an odd visual seeing him wrestle guys like The Miz.
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships: The New Day (c) vs. The Revival
If anyone in WWE should be working a Starrcade event, it’s only right that it be the Revival. These teams have had a lot of really good matches and I’m sure this will be another one, even if we won’t get to see it for ourselves.
