Dustin Rhodes has beome a legendary name in professional wrestling, and his longevity is one reason. Either he’s being himself, Goldust, or other gimmicks that he held, his career has been memorable. Having made his debut in 1988, he has officially wrestled in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010, and with his match with Inner Circle member Sammy Guevera, the 2020’s. At the age of 50, with the style he wrestles he will likely still be able to work part-time in his 60’s, so we could see him lace up his boots in 2030 as well, if his health keeps up.
Dustin Rhodes in AEW
Dustin left WWE to join his little brother Cody in All Elite Wrestling, and has experienced a career resurgence. After an absolutely classic match with his brother at Double Or Nothing, he has been a steady ally of The Elite. He also works behind the scenes to pass on his years of knowledge to younger talent, and wants to be the one to open the official training location for AEW’s prospective talents. After years of minor use in WWE as Goldust, I feel many forgot just how good Dustin Rhodes actually was. He has proved he is still at the top of his game.
Who Else Can Achieve This In 2020?
There aren’t as many older talents floating around in wrestling today, but there are a few who will join Dustin Rhodes in this. Jushin Liger will hit this milestone at Wrestle Kingdom in his retirement matches. Undertaker, X-Pac, Tommy Dreamer & Scott Steiner are all people who could grab this record as well. Jerry Lawler is nearing 6 different decades of wrestling once he wrestles again, and if Ric Flair finds his way into another match he will acheive the same thing.
The current NWA Tag Team Champions, The Rock N Roll Express are going to celebrate 5 decades as a tag team, but both members debutted in the 70’s before forming their tag team in 1983. There is also outliers like Terry Funk, who has already wrestled in 6 decades, which is about as many times as he has retired. He will probably continue to wrestle even long after he passes away.
Who else is going to hit a major decade milestone in 2020? Let me know who I missed in the comment section down below!
