Earlier this year, Dio Maddin was taken off commentary after he was mauled by Brock Lesnar after he came to the defense of Jerry Lawler. He was sent through the announce table with a vicious F5, and that was the last we would see of him at this time. He would then be sent back down to NXT to hone his craft as a professional wrestler instead of a member of the commentary team.
Revenge Is On Dio Maddin’s Mind
Despite returning to NXT, he has not forgotten his vendetta against Brock Lesnar. He tweeted out something simple and to the point. “Since everyone’s doing it, 2020 Goals: 1. Beat Brock Lesnars bitch ass.” A fan replied that it wasn’t smart to mention Brock like that, and Dio replied “I can’t beat his bitch ass if he doesn’t see it now can I?”
Dio Maddin has yet to reemerge on NXT TV or appear on live events. The intent for him to begin anew as a wrestler might be starting up soon. His size and charisma should make him a major player for WWE once everything comes together. His plan of beating Brock Lesnar’s ass could happen in 2020 however.
Could Dio Be In The Royal Rumble?
Brock Lesnar on Monday Night RAW announced his intent to be the first entrant into the 2020 Royal Rumble. He will enter at #1 as a way to test his ability and show he truly is the best in the company. With 29 spots open, it’s not impossible one could be claimed by Dio Maddin, where he could make a direct attack at Brock Lesnar himself. At 6’7 & 287 pounds, and having been trained by WWE Hall Of Famer, Booker T as part of his Reality of Wrestling promotion, Dio Maddin is not someone to be taken lightly.
There is likely to be a good amount of NXT representation in the Royal Rumble this year. Following the success WWE had found when it comes to the NXT involvement in Survivor Series, they would be foolish not to. We’re likely to see the NXT Championship defended at the event, especially where they aren’t running an NXT Takeover event to coincide with the Royal Rumble.
