One of the more exciting stars of the WWE womens division is set to return as part of the Royal Rumble this Sunday. This is Naomi, who has not been seen on WWE TV since around September in 2019. She cites her reason for the hiatus as being for personal reasons and for her health. Naomi will likely return as part of the Smackdown brand, where her husband Jimmy Uso recently returned. She was drafted to RAW in the Superstar Shakeup, but was not around for the WWE Draft.
Naomi Could Enter Early
With the Royal Rumble, the only people who will generally get big entrances are the first two entrants. Naomi has one of the most alluring and eye catching entrances in all of wrestling, with it basically being a giant rave complete with blacklighting and lots of neon. It is the type of entrance which really gets fans excited, perfect for kicking off a Royal Rumble match. She could enter at Number Two, and last a good while to make a good returning impression. She is unlikely to be a rumble winner, but she is a former two-time Smackdown Womens Champion, and they could run a very nice underdog story for her.
Smackdown Will Be Better For Having Her Again
The Smackdown Womens division since the WWE draft has been lacking. They have their top stars in Bayley & Sasha Banks, but the undercard is a bit weak relying on people like Carmella, Dana Brooke, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville & Lacey Evans. Anyone they can get will help, and hoepfully if Ruby Riott returns at the event, she will also join the Smackdown roster. They need to start building up their womens division, even just to have people for Bayley & Sasha Banks to face down the line.
A Potential Tag Team
While the WWE Womens Tag Team Titles currently reside on Monday Night RAW with The Kabuki Warriors, it is a multi-brand championship. With only two teams on Smackdown to challenge for it, and both of them being heels (Boss n’ Hug Connection and Fire & Desire), it has been a long time since a Smackdown team has been challenging for them. We saw Naomi & Carmella paired to fill role in the first ever womens elimination chamber, with fans dubbing them “Fabulous Glow”. They were a solid pairing who could make for great tag team champions if the division is ever treated as more than an afterthought.
