WWE SmackDown is underway, the first of the year, the first live WWE show of 2020! We are just about an hour into the show now. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the live recap and results from the show as they come, glitchy feeds be damned!
We just saw a match take place between Shorty G and Dash Wilder, one set up by an argument backstage between G and the Revival.
You can see my recap of this match below:
Shorty G vs. Dash Wilder
Shorty G with a flying Headscissors, Butterfly Suplex for a nearfall. Dash takes him up top, Back Superplex for a nearfall. G with a back kick, snapmare, takes Dash to the outside. Throws him back in, goes up top, crossbody, Dash rolls through and covers for a nearfall! Fireman’s carry, G escapes, picks the leg for the Ankle Lock! Dash rolls through takes G into the corner, roll-up for a nearfall! Whip, G with a floatover and sunset flip for a nearfall. Dash takes G onto his shoulders and tosses him onto the top rope! But G outwrestles Wilder, takes him down into the Ankle Lock for the quick submission.
Winner: Shorty G
Shorty G got the win but could not celebrate it. Afterwards, The Revival jumped him and nailed him with the Shatter Machine, they were going to continue the beating until Sheamus’ music hit.
After several weeks of vignettes, Sheamus finally made his live return to chase off The Revival, only to immediately turn and blast Shorty G with a Brogue Kick. Humorously this completely mirrors his last big return, where he pretended to make the save for Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler only to leave them laying.
One can only assume that a feud between Sheamus and Shorty G is incoming. This matches what he’s been saying in his vignettes, chastising the WWE roster for becoming so small.
