Adam Cole has a huge test ahead of him at NXT Takeover Portland in Tomasso Ciampa. Despite this, he would accept a match with the Japanese sensation KUSHIDA.
Undisputed Era would attack KUSHIDA last week, which was the catalyst for this encounter. While Adam Cole is one of the best NXT Champions of all time, KUSHIDA is one of the best in the world today.
He could have played spoiler with a victory potentially placing him in the NXT Championship match at NXT Takeover Portland. Adam Cole would do everything he could to prevent this from happening.
Adam Cole Defeats KUSHIDA
With Adam Cole being the undisputed top guy in NXT, it was unlikely that KUSHIDA would notch the biggest win of his NXT career. He is one of the best wrestlers on the roster, but he isn’t on the same level as Adam Cole yet. It was always going to be an incredible match, and they delivered a Takeover worthy match.
Cole would overcome KUSHIDA after a hard fought matchup where he would take KUSHIDA had to give, he would get the advantage and hit the Last Shot for the victory. KUSHIDA looked fantastic in defeat, and his time will come eventually.
Ciampa Confronts The NXT Champion Ahead Of Takeover Portland
After the match came to a conclusion, we would see Adam Coles challenger at Portland confront him one final time ahead of their clash at Takeover.
Ciampa would make his way to the ring, show that his ankle is in perfect shape. While they wouldn’t exchange blows, they made sure everyone knew that this Sunday will be a must see event. Cole would raise the championship as they came face to face.
Ciampa would say he is going to take his life back, and Cole responded simply with ‘Over my dead body’. It will be the first big test of Adam Cole as champion in 2020, and potentially could mark the end of his reign. He has defeated many men as NXT Champion, but the Psycho Killer is ready for battle, and there are few things that could pose as large a threat to his reign as that.
