It’s Monday once more folks, which means another iteration of WWE Monday Night Raw is upon us! In a rematch from a surprisingly good bout from last week’s Raw, tonight we will once again see Aleister Black vs Erick Rowan! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the full coverage you’ve come to know, including live recaps and results from the show as they come, plus previews of what we can expect to see here this evening! Plenty to talk about so let’s not waste any time getting into this one!
Aleister Black vs Erick Rowan
So last week, this bout kinda came out of nowhere. Which, that much did seem like a bit of a missed opportunity to me. Sure, Black did allude to going after Rowan with cryptic mentions of a cage the week prior. But that was all it was, nothing was announced and I think a lot of people didn’t even really get the hint from that promo in the first place. And then the two of them just up and had a match, announced mere minutes in advance.
And it seemed like kind of a waste when you consider that going in, both of them had been on lengthy winning streaks, regularly defeating jobbers in dominant fashion. The collision course aspect made plenty of sense but it wasn’t built to in the slightest. I’d have definitely announced it atleast a single week in advance myself, but all that said, when the two of them clashed, the result was really fun.
Black is of course a storied performer who had plenty of awesome battles in NXT and has proven much the same in his time on Raw, largely in his matches with Buddy Murphy. Rowan’s a completely different beast to work with however, but the physical fight that ensued did not disappoint. The end saw Black require two consecutive Black Masses just to keep Rowan down for the count, by far the closest anyone has come to defeating Aleister since his singles run on Monday Night Raw began five months ago.
It impressed the fans and, seemingly, the higher ups alike as they decided to go ahead and make the match once more, but this time, it was atleast announced an hour or so before show time. So that’s certainly a step up in the world. I presume Aleister will win again.
