While his brother Matt Hardy seems to be on his way out of WWE, Jeff Hardy will be staying around for a bit longer. While most will report to the WWE Performance Center in Florida as rookies or new signees, Jeff Hardy will be going so WWE can ensure he is ready to return. Jeff has been out with a leg injury since April of last year, and has had other issues along the way.
Jeff Hardy Is A Troubled Man
Anyone who has followed the career of Jeff Hardy knows that he has long struggled with substance abuse. This has cost him his job on a few different occasions, and it seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same. Now a 42 year old man with children, you would think he would strive to change his ways. However while out of the ring with a leg injury, Jeff would rack up two more criminal charges. One for public intoxication in July, and a DUI in October.
Contracts Get Frozen During Injury
Once Jeff Hardy is able to return to the ring, he will have a while left on his contract. WWE will essentially stop a contract from running out while a star is injured. This has lead to disgruntled people in the past, notably Luke Harper & Rey Mysterio. This means that Jeff Hardy will likely be in WWE until 2021.
Jeff Hardy Is A Merch Mover
Despite all his issues outside the ring, he will always have a home in WWE due to the fact that he moves merch like few others. At his peak, he was selling more merch than even top star John Cena. He has always maintained a unique connection with fans, being someone social outsiders and teenagers can relate too with ease.
If you make Vince McMahon lots of money, he will do what he can to keep you around. While Jeff might not have much more time left in the ring, they will find a way to keep him onscreen as long as possible. Expect him to return to a prominent role when he’s back for this reason.
