WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues. John Morrison & The Miz to appear later but first…
Daniel Bryan vs. Curtis Axel
The match just kinda starts as we come back from commercial. Axel with a snapmare and a neck snap. Drew Gulak again at ringside for commentary, talks about holes in Gulak’s game. Axel blocks a kick, slips him around and gets him with forearms to the upper back, slams him to the mat. Axel poses, Gulak demands that he stay on him. Axel tries to keep the pressure up but Bryan reverses and gets him with high kicks to the chest. Whips him to the ropes, tries for a back body drop but Axel with a kick to the face, tosses him to the outside.
Throws him into the steps. Shoves him into the ring, sends a stomp to his back, facewashes him. Whips him, Bryan ducks a clothesline, flying clothesline! Crowd is on their feet as Daniel Bryan gets the Yes Kicks going! Axel ducks a kick, trips him up, they exchange cradles, backslides and roll-ups, Axel with a clothesline to the back of the head! Pulls him up to his feet, wants the PerfectPlex, Bryan reverses into the LaBell Lock for the submission!
Winner: Daniel Bryan
Afterwards, Gulak gives Bryan the evil eye.
Out comes John Morrison and the Miz, the new tag champs. Miz asks, “What, no ‘You Deserve It” chants?” and some people actually take them up on this. Brings up a bunch of films where the original was great but the sequel is even better. Miz says they proved all the haters wrong and now they can choke on their pancakes. Now the Friday Night Delight and the Most Must-See WWE Superstar of all time are your WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions. And you can hate on them, you can chant “You Suck” because they don’t hear that. They just hear “Miz & Morrison, hey hey, ho ho”. This is specifically designed to not be all that chantable but they chant it anyway.
As the champs celebrate, we see an official speaking to the ring announcer for a bit. Greg Hamilton then announces that Miz & Morrison’s first ever tag title defense will be against the New Day, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode and the Usos… in the Elimination Chamber! Well, didn’t see that one coming! The Usos make their way out now! They’ve got a match with John Morrison & The Miz up next!
