Did it sneak up on you? You’re surely not the only one, but WWE Super Show-Down occurs today. It’s about two hours away as of the time of this posting. A Raw Tag Team Title match will take place, with Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy defending the gold against the Street Profits, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and you can expect to see the results of each and every match on the show before long, plus a full preview of everything you can expect to see on the card.
I’m pretty naturally sour on these Saudi shows, and Lord knows the last one was something of a disaster, though it turned out okay in the end. Amazingly, they’re going ahead and doing this the exact same way, with the show taking place the day before SmackDown. They’re also flying via Atlas Air again ’cause why not? Only cowards learn lessons… ah well. Here’s hoping we don’t get a repeat of that fiasco. Now, that aside, let’s get onto the previews.
WWE Raw Tag Team Championships: Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
So this one kinda came in outta nowhere at the last minute. After spending about three months feuding with Kevin Owens and his buddies, Samoa Joe and the Viking Raiders, at the end of this past Monday’s Raw, the tag champs found themselves run off by Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, the Street Profits. And thus, this match came into being. If I had to guess, they were maybe intending to defend against Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe for a period, only for Joe’s injuries and suspensions to make this impossible. So they go with Ford and Dawkins as a substitute. I guess the Viking Raiders will have to wait for their rematch…
Either way, this should be a pretty good match and a fresh one at that. Why exactly they insist on pushing the Street Profits primarily as shills on Raw and have done so for this long, I’m really not sure. They should have a lot more credibility as a team by now. But as things stand, there’s just no sense in having them win the titles at this point in time. Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy to retain, and probably hold them for atleast a month or so more.
