This new decade got off to a great start for the now former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Angel Garza. He had won the championship a month prior after defeating Lio Rush in the final of an excellent series of matches. He would get overconfident however, and that would cost him. At Worlds Collide, he agreed to have three challengers instead of one, making his first defense a Fatal Four Way. That would be won by ‘The Irish Ace’ Jordan Devlin, after he pinned Isaiah “Swerve” Scott. Because of that result, while Garza lost his title, Devlin didn’t defeat him. They will clash very soon, but first Garza needed to get back on track.
Angel Garza Defeats Isaiah Scott
If it wasn’t for Scott getting pinned, Garza would likely still be champion right now. This means that the first step on the road back to championship glory would be Scott. Garza didn’t give him much chance to breath, attacking out of the gate. Swerve would use his insane agility to get the upper hand for a while, but the intensity of Garza and his constant pressure would allow him to get the victory after nailing Swerve with The Wing Clipper.
Calling Out Jordan Devlin
After disposing of the man who cost him his title, Garza took to the microphone to call out the man who holds it now. He also touched on his appearance on Monday Night RAW, where he took out his cousin Humberto Carillo, and the legendary Rey Mysterio. If he can take them out, does Jordan Devlin stand a chance? Garza doesn’t think so, and fans everywhere want to find out who truly is better between these two.
Where Will Garza & Devlin Clash?
NXT Takeover Portland’s card is quickly filling up, and there might not be a slot on it for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship match. This could mean it will be defended on a future episode of NXT TV. Devlin & Garza are talented enough to make this into a main event encounter, and show everyone why you can’t sleep on the Crusierweight division. It is better than ever, and these two are major reasons why.
