With the world in the crazy state that it is right now, people need something to fixate on to get their mind off everything. During an interview with Cody Decker, CM Punk was asked what it would take to get him back in the ring. He responded with a list of opponents that would motivate him, but no one has ‘dangled the correct carrot’. If everything was right, he’d consider John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, and one man he has never faced in Will Ospreay.
Will Ospreay Asks CM Punk To Save The Date
After coming off the best year of his career in 2019, Will Ospreay wants to remain one of the biggest stars in wrestling. With his name in CM Punks mouth, he wants to make this happen as much as fans want it. CM Punk was the biggest star in professional wrestling once upon a time, and drew a lot of fans back into it. He hasn’t officially wrestled since Royal Rumble 2014, having made secret appearances with friends on small indie shows and trying his hand at MMA & Boxing.
Responding to that interview clip, Ospreay tweeted the following. “Just an idea & because we could all use something to focus on to get us through this hard time right now. Save January 4th & get some reps in. Help the business move forward instead of being a “spoke on the wheel” This might be click bait. But a Great White just bit.”
Could This Be What It Takes To Get CM Punk Back In The Ring?
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that CM Punk had his passion for wrestling killed during his final years with WWE. While he is now an analyst for WWE Backstage, that makes him a FOX employee, not WWE. Because of this, anything is still possible for the man who one staked a claim for the best in the world. Ospreay is one man who has claimed professional wrestling is art, and puts his all into a match no matter if it was in-front of thousands at the Toyko Dome or none at all. All that CM Punk seemingly needs is the right motivation and opponent, so we can only hope this is the correct carrot.
