WWE Monday Night Raw continues. It seems we’re heading towards Beth Phoenix’s special appearance, in which she’ll be giving us a medical update on Edge. But up next, we have Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane. But before THAT, No Way Jose is bringing the conga line backstage to see Erick Rowan. Asks Erick if they can please see what’s in the cage. Rowan says all these weeks, he’s just waited for a guy to be real respectful and ask if they can see it. So he agrees to show Jose and all his friends. Rowan finally opens the cage and reveals that inside it… is a giant spider. Everyone freaks out and runs away. So uh, Rowan has been Tara all along.
Now, out comes Kairi Sane and Asuka. Asuka says Shayna got lucky tonight because she got injured. Kairi says she’s got it, she’s got it. Asuka yells about the Elimination Chamber and promises to go after Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. Kairi cackles. Asuka says Kairi is hungry for Shayna Baszler, and Kairi rubs her tummy to support this claim.
Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane
Bell rings as we reach the top of the hour. Kairi and Shayna circle around, teasing lock-ups. Kairi wants a double leg, Baszler blocks it. Shayna gets a top wristlock applied. “Ronda Rousey” chant starts during this otherwise pretty quiet match. Baszler trips her to the mat. Asuka yells at Shayna for the distraction, Sane gets her with a forearm to the face. Shayna is angry. Charges, but Sane gets her with a headscissor, kick to the shoulder blades. Hits the ropes for a sliding lariat, but Baszler catches it to block!
Cradle for a 2 count, Sane slips behind a body slam, ducks a clothesline but eats a Spinebuster! Hooks a leg, stomps her shin into the mat. Whips Kairi out of the ring and poses. I dare you to figure out who the heel is supposed to be. Kairi tries to fight back with forearms, Shayna blocks it. Knee to the face, cover for 2. Gets an ankle hook in, twisting her foot painfully. Turns her around, singles the leg out and stomps it brutally as Asuka watches. Asuka on the apron distracts Shayna, roll-up from Kairi for 2, Baszler gets her with a big boot for a nearfall. Suddenly, Becky Lynch’s music hits and she makes her way onto the stage, hoisting up her Raw Women’s title. She gets smoke and everything for this unplanned impromptu entrance. Commercial break.
We come back to see Kairi chopping Shayna for a comeback. Shayna stops her, uppercut to the stomach. Wants a suplex, Sane reverses it. Shayna retakes the lead, Gutwrench Superplex for a nearfall. Hooks her in the Kirifuda Clutch and gets the victory.
Winner: Shayna Baszler
Afterwards, Shayna hooks it in again as Becky gets up from the commentary booth. Says she doesn’t have her wrestling boots on but she’ll fight her.
Backstage, Rey lets us know that Humberto is the kind of competitor where no matter how many times you knock him down, he’ll get back up.
