Twitter is often one of the most interesting places in modern wrestling. There are no company restrictions on Twitter, and you can often see people fire friendly shots at each other from across the promotion lines. The latest instance of this has come from the British Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay and WWE Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin. Both are two stars in the prime of their careers, and are finding great success as they blaze trails as the next generation of major stars for their respective promtions. Devlin is set for great things within WWE, and Ospreay is on his way to being a top star in NJPW.
Despite having their major promotions, both are also seen outside of WWE on occassion. Will Ospreay is the top champion in UK based promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro), and Jordan Devlin is the former ace of Irish promotion Over The Top Wrestling (OTT).
Jordan Devlin Fishing For A Match
Where Jordan Devlin has some extra freedom due to his NXT UK deal, he is still able to freely appear in places like OTT. Because of this, and knowing a match with Ospreay would raise his stock as a performer, when Ospreay took to Twitter to let his fans know he is only competing in the UK for RevPro, Devlin poked his giant head into the conversation. He replied to the intial tweet with “How about those RESTRICTIONS eh?” to which Ospreay responded “Mainly my choice to stay with only Rev Pro as it’s good business and what else can I do in other UK promotions that I haven’t already done that interests me, I can face whoever I want…wanna get permission and come play wrestling Ace?” Ospreay also confirmed he is willing to work in Ireland.
Jordan Devlin & Will Ospreay Have Only Faced Off Once
Back in 2018 at PROGRESS Chapter 72: Got Got Need, fans would be treated to Will Ospreay defeating a young Jordan Devlin in a 16 minute classic. Both have improved immensely since that encounter, becoming truly top level talents. If the stars are able to align to have these two face off in 2020, it will most definitely be another classic match. There are some logistics to work out, but WWE & NJPW both have zero controlling stake in OTT, making it a very neutral battle ground.
