WWE has now run two shows from the Performance Center with positive feedback. This past Wednesday, we saw NXT go on like normal in the WWE owned building, and Smackdown go on without fans in attendance. This won’t be the last time we see this, as at least NXT is going to be shot like this for the next few weeks.
NXT With No Fans Will Feel Even Weirder Than Smackdown
While Smackdown Live will often be home to rather dead crowds, NXT is home to the loudest crowd reactions in WWE today. The crowd of Full Sail University is notorious for getting into the matches, to the point of distraction at times. Because of this, it will be especially noticeable when next Wednesday we see NXT without a crowd.
It will create a very odd environment, but NXT is often home to more creative planning than Smackdown or RAW. With another planned show between now and then, they have more time to truly refine the no fan show formula.
Fans Want Triple H Back On Commentary
The biggest highlight of Smackdown Live this week was having Triple H on commentary for the show. He was partnered up with Michael Cole and they were having an uncharacteristically good time calling the action. The dry wit of Triple H combined with the insane energy of NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo would make for a very memorable duo.
When you take Triple H’s role in NXT as the main boss of the brand into account, it would also help him feel like a perfect fit for commentary.
Will They Show Matches From NXT Takeover Portland?
To fill some time on Smackdown Live, fans were treated to a replay of the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match, in an edited form. This was a smart way to fill some TV time, and with the insane quality of NXT Takeover matches it would be a good way to please fans. They could revisit the Gargano & Ciampa matches as they inch closer to their final encounter. They could show some of Adam Cole’s title defenses as he passes the record for longest reign in NXT Championship history.
Do you think NXT without a crowd from the Performance Center could work for the brand? Let us know in the comment section down below.
