After being moved to the WWE Allumni section and him tweeting out a picture of his wrestling boots with the name Kassius on them, many including myself assumed that meant that Chris Hero was back. This has now been confirmed by the Wrestling Genius himself with a fantastic video shared to social media along with a change back to the name Chris Hero on Twitter.
WWE Wasted Chris Hero, And He Knows This
What started with some black and white footage of his time as Kassius Ohno along with his banger of a theme song (which will be missed), it quickly devolved into a clip show of him losing match after match. He was pinned by Tommaso Ciampa, Lars Sullivan, Tyler Bate, beat in mere seconds by Matt Riddle, tapped out by Johnny Gargano. This is not who he is. By all accounts, his NXT run was as complete failure once again. WWE had picked up the hottest thing in indy wrestling twice, and dropped the ball both times.
However, it takes more than that to stop this man. The second half of the video shows the man that he really is. While he never had a perfect win-loss record, he was never the enhancement talent he was in WWE. The second half of the video shows wars from his incredible 2016, when he beat legends like Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, went to war in a classic with Tomohiro Ishii, was the most agile hoss in Pro Wrestling Guerilla hitting Frankensteiners like he was the size of Akira Tozawa. This is the man who could nearly knock current NXT UK Champion WALTER out, the master of the Piledriver. He is the Knockout Artist, the Wrestling Genius, but he is not Kassius Ohno. This is Chris Hero, and that name is here to stay.
One Quick Video Rebuilt His Hype
While WWE can tend to completely cool off the hype of talent after mishandling them for years, the truly talented wrestlers are able to reclaim their momentum quick after being released. We saw this with Jon Moxley, who at midnight after being released instantly became the talk of the wrestling world in a similar way. While Chris Hero isn’t going to get the same level of attention as Moxley, his fans are ready to see him deliver some classics wherever he steps once again. No matter what ring he steps back into, his next opponent better be ready, because this could be the most dangerous version of Chris Hero yet. Are you excited to have Chris Hero back?
