While the star match of this week on NXT UK is a 20 man over the top battle royal, the NXT Women’s Division is what will kick the show off. After Kay Lee Ray brutalized Dani Luna just two weeks ago, the situation has evolved into a tag team brawl. The Scottish Powerhouse Piper Niven took to the ring to back up Dani Luna in this contest. Jinny being another top heel with past issues with Niven was chosen to put it all together, making a great tag team contest.
Jinny & Kay Lee Ray Prove To Be A Strong Team
While the team of Niven & Luna have the clear power advantage in this match, Ray & Jinny would come in with the clear technique advantage. The past beatdown of Luna had her eager to get her hands on Ray, causing her to rush into the opposing corner. This would give the heels an early advantage, as they began to try pick apart the brash rookie. Not to be taken lighty, Luna caught a crossbody from Jinny into a Fall Away Slam, and removed Ray with a huge pump kick. Jinny came in with a headscissors, but left with a back over the knee of Luna which got an early pin attempt. Luna tried to tag in Niven, but Ray pulled her off the apron. This prompted Luna to chase Ray, giving Jinny a chance to intercept with a kick. The heels would finally isolate Luna, stomping her into the corner.
A front suplex from Ray would put down Luna for a near fall, who would find herself locked in a cravate. Quick tags in and out would lead to Luna being desperate for the tag to the fresh Niven. Jinny would apply an octopus hold, which Luna would fight out of. Instead of going for the tag, she would attack Ray and find herself in another submission with the guillotine choke. After breaking out, Luna would crawl to her corner and Niven was finally in in the match. She would tear through Jinny, hitting a huge Fisherman Buster into a low crossbody for a near fall. Jinny attempted a Frankensteiner to take Niven down, but was caught with a vicious Buckle Bomb instead. Niven followed up with a cannonball, and would set up the Vader Bomb, but a distraction from Ray saved Jinny, who quickly tagged in Ray.
A possible NXT UK Women’s Championship match would take form as Kay Lee Ray found herself alone with Piper Niven. Ray would hit a superkick, sending Niven into her corner where a blind tag from Luna would remove her from the situation. Luna would hit a big german suplex, and stomp her in the corner. Jinny would neutrailize Niven on the outside, leaving Luna alone. A failed rollup would send her into the elbow of Jinny, then a Gory Bomb from Ray would end the match.
Dani Luna Costed Piper Niven A Huge Chance
It isn’t often you get a chance to go face to face with the NXT Women’s Champion, and with Piper being a top contender, a pinfall here could have sped her title shot up. Instead, the brash Luna would tag herself in and cost them the match due to her inexperience. Niven will find a way to get to championship glory, but this was a big roadblock.
