WWE Friday Night SmackDown commences with video packages celebrating Triple H. It’s his 25th anniversary in the WWE evidently so we’ll be seeing him live tonight. But out comes the New Day, Big E and Kofi Kingston to open the show proper and celebrate their eighth WWE tag team title victory. You’ll never believe this, but they’re super happy about it! Kofi namedrops a lot of teams like the New Age Outlaws, Edge & Christian, Demolition, the Hart Foundation… that’s the company they’re currently in. Big E says that’s more championships than the new Tampa Bay Buccaneer Tom Brady! Kofi is upset, being a big Patriots fan. That was hilarious. Lucha House Party interrupt. Lince says the tag title win was Lucha Lit. They wanted to congratulate them but also stake their claim to be the next in line. But The Miz and John Morrison come out and walk past them into the ring. Miz is upset that they think they had a legitimate victory, beating them in a singles triple threat! Morrison says they never beat them in a traditional tag team match, their win was cheap. Lucha House Party slide into the ring and Gran Metalik cuts a quick promo in Spanish. Miz asks Morrison what he said and John pretends he was putting the Miz over. E and Kofi seem to know what he said and act like they can’t repeat it. Miz angrily demands Lince explain but before he can, the Forgotten Sons interrupt as well!
Miz and Morrison laugh them off and ask who the hell they are.
Cutler introduces them, mentions they actually served their country but ever since they came here, they’ve been tossed aside. They won’t allow it. They will be forgotten no more. Miz acts offended and says he’s been here for 15 years and demands respect. Ryker calls him a poser, pointing out that he plays a Marine in movies, but he’s standing in the ring with actual marines! Blake claims they’re a bunch of savages and they can strike any time, anywhere… and they jump the New Day! They cleared out Lucha House Party as well, of course Miz and Morrison bail. Ryker holds E in place for the flying stomp from Cutler. Ryker powerbombs Kofi right onto E! Forgotten Sons standing tall.
Kinda wish we could get away from these multi-team scenes and have a more focused feud in this division. But a pretty effective segment on it’s own.
