This year, Wrestlemania was a two day event for the first time in its 36 year history. While this was done due to the specific circumstances which prevented WWE from doing the the show live and with a crowd, and not being able to have their full roster on hand. Instead of one eight hour show once you counted in the preshow, we got two more manageable four hour shows, both with equal star power and with their big matches split nicely. There is a man with a lot of power within WWE which agrees this is the way the company should be handling the event going forward. This is Triple H, who appeared on the After The Bell Podcast with Corey Graves.
Triple H On The Two Night Wrestlemania Approach
When asked about his thoughts on how WWE handled Wrestlemania, Triple H had the following to say. “Well, I mean, my opinion is my opinion, but I think it was much more enjoyable than the eight-hour extravaganza. I think that at some point, that is probably what it should be. It’s become so big.
When you think about it, in a way, it started out as a concert that ended up as a festival and it’s this week-long thing. When you think about it in that manner now, the Thursday would’ve been Hall of Fame. Friday was Smackdown. Saturday was going to be TakeOver. Sunday would’ve been WrestleMania. Monday would’ve been Raw.
It’s a week-long festival. I think that big main stage attraction needs to be those two nights in that weekend of events.”
Could WWE Be Able To Sell Tickets For Two Nights Of Wrestlemania?
This year, Wrestlemania tickets were not a concern for WWE. They held the event in the WWE Performance Center without a crowd, but hopefully by the time Wrestlemania 37 is here, huge crowds are allowed once again. Wrestlemania has become a huge deal, with fans flying in from all over the world to be involved in the chaos that is Wrestlemania. Between all the indie supercards, NXT Takeover, and Wrestlemania, it is one of the best weeks in wrestling. Provided WWE can maintain interest in both cards for Wrestlemania, they would have very little issue filling the arenas.
