The Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament rages on, with the next match in B-Block. We have already seen Akira Tozawa beat Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, and now we will see the debuting El Hijo Del Fantasma face Jack Gallagher. Fantasma is coming in with some hype, but Gallagher has been a man possessed since his return to 205 Live with a new image and attitude. Gentleman Jack over the past four years has never won the Cruiserweight Championship, and he is done being a joke as that has only brought him so far. Will his new attitude make him too cocky, and force him to overlook Fantasma?
A Clash Of Styles
Things would start quick as they locked up, with Gallagher pushing Fantasma to the corner. Gallagher would go for the mask of Fantasma early, which is a very quick way to piss a luchador off. Fantasma would take Gallagher down to the mat, but Gallagher is proving to be the better technician. Once they got to a vertical base, Fantasma would show his agility and hit a dropkick for a one fall before locking in a cravate. Gallagher would get back to his feet, and wouldn’t be caught again by the agility of Fantasma, catching him on the shoulders and dumping him down to the mat.
Some stiff strikes would be launched from Fantasma, before he would be sent to the outside. Gallagher would go for a baseball slide dropkick, only for Fantasma to duck out of the way, which Gallagher predicted as he would land on his feet and send Fantasma into the barricade. Dragging Fantasma around by his mask, Gallagher would keep the brawl on the outside going steady, resetting the count a few times. Trying to come back out one time too many, Gallagher would get a kick to the face of Fantasma who would pick up momentum again. He would use a Crucifix to dump Gallagher on the outside, tease his suicide dive before instead hitting a vaulting body press, just to keep Gallagher guessing.
El Hijo Del Fantasma Makes An Impression
Coming back from commercial break, Gallagher has regained some control but that would not last long, after Fantasma fought out of a lengthy armlock. A huge open hand chop would start the offense of Fantasma, who would hit some quick lariats to pick away at Gallagher. Being hit just gets Gallagher mad, and he would ram his shoulder into Fantasma in the corner. Breaking free, Fantasma would hit a jumping superkick sending Gallagher to the outside. He would then hit the ropes and nail the suicide dive many call the ‘Arrow From The Depths Of Hell’, one of the most accurate and deadly in the wrestling world.
This would inflict heavy damage to Gallagher, enough for Fantasma to have complete control, a quick pin attempt would get a two fall. He would prop Gallagher onto his shoulders, but a tug at the mask would force him to give up the hold, letting Gallagher attempt a roll up. This would not work, but a running headbutt would nearly get the win for Gallagher. The Gentlemans Dropkick would be scouted, and Fantasma would scoop Gallagher up to his shoulders, shrug off attempts at the mask and hit a huge driver for the win.
With El Hijo Del Fantasma having picked up this huge win, he is now tied with Akira Tozawa at the top of his side of the bracket, while Gentleman Jack joins Swerve at the bottom. Will Fantasma continue his winning ways, or was this just some beginners luck within NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
