There is one thing very clear in NXT, and that is that Velveteen Dream wants the NXT Championship and Adam Cole. He has been working his way through the Undisputed Era since he has returned from the injuries they inflicted to him. He started with Roderick Strong, then switched to a focus on Adam Cole, also beating Bobby Fish along the way. He was supposed to meet with Adam Cole on this episode of NXT to discuss a potential title match. However, Adam Cole wasn’t at the arena, saying that Dream doesn’t deserve the shot. Dream still came to the ringside area, and someone else would be his guest.
Finn Balor Takes Offense To Claims From Velveteen Dream
Velveteen Dream would cut a quick promo on Adam Cole, where he called him the greatest NXT Champion of all time, but said he is going to end his reign. In doing so, Dream would rip the last bit of gold from the clutches of Undisputed Era, who once held every major title on the brand. Dream’s NXT North American Championship being taken by Roderick Strong was what gave them control, so it’s fitting for him to end it.
There was someone who took issue with these claims. This was Finn Balor, who we saw defeat Fabian Aichner earlier in the evening. He still believes he is the greatest NXT Champion of all time with him previously holding the record for longest reign. Balor might have never met or spoken to Dream before, but he doesn’t like him based on these comments alone. He told him to be careful, as this is a quick way to get him a date with The Prince. Dream would accept this challenge, and ask Finn to pick him up next Wednesday Night.
A True First Time Match For WWE
It isn’t uncommon for WWE to claim a first time match, when the men involved have clashed in the past. But this one is different. Dream joined NXT long after Balor had already left for Monday Night RAW, meaning that this truly was their first interaction in WWE. They haven’t even faced each other at an NXT live event, and they certainly didn’t face each other before WWE as Dream only debutted in 2014 reporting to the Performance Center soon after, while Finn was on his way to his 292 day reign as NXT Champion.
With this truly first time match now set for next week on NXT, who do you think will win and be the true number one contender for Adam Cole and the NXT Championship? It will be veteran experience against youthful arrogance when we see Velveteen Dream & Finn Balor clash next week on NXT. Who do you think will walk away with a victory?
