Two weeks back, we would meet the new tag team partner of Matt Riddle. Due to travel restrictions, Pete Dunne is unable to defend his half of the NXT Tag Team Championships, but he would hand pick his temporary replacement. This would be Timothy Thatcher, one of the most serious and vicious men in all of wrestling. You won’t find him on social media, but you can find plenty of footage of him mangling people online. Him teaming up with the light hearted chilled out Matt Riddle is as odd couple as it gets, but they fought off Undisputed Era in their first match together. This week on NXT, they would look to further bond as a tag team.
Matt Riddle would take to the microphone, and say that while WWE will often throw together tag teams, the Broserweights were a real team. They won the Dusty Cup, they won the titles, and Riddle intends to be a real team with Thatcher as well. He says he knows Thatcher like he knows the back of his hand… if he knew the back of his hand for two weeks. They would prove to the world they are a real tag team with a new segment called the ‘Newly Bros Show’.
Welcome To The Newly Bros Show With Matt Riddle & Timothy Thatcher
This would be hosted by Byron Saxton, and this new tag team would answer questions about the other. Saxton would introduce Thatcher with a story that he once pulled an eye out of someones socket, which Thatcher verified as true instantly, and stare at Saxton like his next victim. Byron would move on to Riddle, who didn’t look like he would murder Saxton if he keeps talking.
They would start the questions, by asking what Riddle had for breakfast this morning, which he would write on a whiteboard. Thatcher would then need to guess, which he said he didn’t know. But this was correct! Riddle had ‘No Idea Bro’ written on the board. Riddle didn’t even know what he ate, as he would wake and bake. He got distracted talking about his wife, and Byron moved on to the next question.
Byron would now ask Thatcher what his favorite TV show is, to which Thatcher would reply “I don’t own a TV, Byron.” Pushing further, he explained that while they are expensive, if the price was right he would consider buying one. Riddle had written The Price Is Right on his whiteboard, making two correct answers.
The final question that would be asked is ‘Where Is The Craziest Place You’ve Done It’, which Thatcher replied that he once had a triple threat in a laundromat, and Riddle had written ‘Threesome On A Washer’, showing that they truly know another each other. Their teaming is destiny.
Imperium Strikes
They would look to enter the Speed Round, when Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel would end this foolishness, and beat down the NXT Tag Team Champions. With a focus on Matt Riddle, he would be thrown into the barricade, before being dumped over onto the concrete. Thatcher would attempt to fight off both men, but even for a tough bastard like Thatcher, a two on one assault is too much to handle. They would take him out with the European Bomb, and push their way to the top of the line for a shot at the titles.
