It’s been a few months since we last saw The Iiconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) on WWE television, and even then it might have only been around draft time when they were selected for Raw as a supplemental pick.
While they had received plenty of air time, they hadn’t taken part in many matches following winning the Women’s Tag Team Championship, and when they did they tended to swindle their way out of them before they finally lost them.

New gimmick?
It’s been reported by Dave Meltzer that they’ve been pulled from television to be repackaged.
In other words, either Royce and Kay think they needed to make changes and convinced Vince McMahon, or he thought they needed some tweaking.
There are plenty of possibilities, but given that the two have become good friends and play the annoying heel part so well, anything short of keeping them together and establish them as a legitimate tag team instead of a pair that talks, and talks, and talks.
It’s not like they aren’t talented; they’ve shown that they are since signing a developmental deal in 2015.
Will the time away hurt?
It’s possible. We hear all the time that when something is working or someone’s trying to make a name for themselves, taking time off can kill their momentum.
And that’s why this could help. As talented as Royce and Kay are, they felt more like an attraction or co-managers as they talked on their way to the ring, talked in the ring before, during, and after their match (if they even had one), and just seemed to exist to annoy people.
While they excelled at that role, it was a waste of their abilities. Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen fans starting to come around to having less distractions and focusing on the ring instead, and some wrestlers have said they feel the added pressure.
In many ways, viewing just the match is classic as anything from the early ‘90s and back had just the ring lit up for the most part. Fans pay to see the wrestlers, while younger viewers at home tend to watch for the spectacle.
What does this mini ramble have to do with anything?
Simple.
The Iiconics fell into the spectacle part and weren’t allowed to grow beyond that. Now would be the perfect time for them to return as a more balanced team (assuming McMahon would let them) and show us what they can really do. We’ve seen glimpses but not a real taste in almost a year.
Whatever the WWE is planning, we hope they do it when live shows begin again at the latest. The women’s division needs more tag teams, and the Iiconics would fit perfectly into the mix along with Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville). Assuming, again, McMahon allows them to perform and create a legitimate women’s tag team division.
