While Alexa Bliss is now one of the premiere female stars in WWE, being a five time Women’s Champion (three times on RAW and twice on Smackdown) and is a two time, and current Tag Team Champion with Nikki Cross, it was not always this way. She has thrived better than most in the current no-crowd shows, and she has a good reason for this. Alex Bliss is simply used to working without getting a crowd reaction, due to her early days as part of the NXT roster. It may now be a distant memory, but Alexa Bliss wasn’t always a scowling evil heel when she wrestled solo.
While she is a steady fan favorite now, she had a rough time as a face in her early career. Because of this, matches in empty arenas was common as she put the hours in to be the worker you see today. Speaking with ComicBook.com, she would go into detail on this.
Alexa Bliss Has Done Many Matches Without A Crowd As Practice
“Well, actually when I was a good guy back in NXT, when I first started in the ring, I didn’t get reaction anyway as a good guy, so I’m used to having no crowd reaction. I didn’t get any reaction until I became a bad guy, but I guess I got used to it because we would have practice matches all the time in NXT where there wasn’t anyone there, and I think it’s fun. I think it challenges us to try something new and to be extra vocal in the ring and help that dynamic of telling the story.
We use the fans a lot in what we do and to tell our stories by using the crowd reaction, but when the crowd reaction is not there, we have to add another element to it. And I just think it’s a good challenge and I don’t really see much difference with it, to be honest.”
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross have been standouts in this new odd era of shows, always putting great effort into their matches, with their best being their victory over Asuka & Kairi Sane at Wrestlemania 36. Between those practice matches and not knowing how to get reactions in the start, Bliss was made for this and will continue to show others exactly how these matches should be done.
