On WWE Smackdown, there is a tag team on the brink of falling apart. This has been teased by the mysterious Smackdown Hacker, who insinuated that someone is keeping an enemy very close. While this could mean Sasha Banks & Bayley, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, their issues are hardly hidden. Instead, this could be the former Smackdown Tag Team Champions, who recently lost the title in a triple threat situation to The New Day. Are John Morrison and The Miz going to break up?
The Miz Dropped The Ball
John Morrison was able to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championships alone at Wrestlemania 36 in a terrifying ladder match, facing Kofi Kingston & Jimmy Uso. Next, it was time for The Miz to do the same without the ladders. In a match with Big E & Jey Uso, The Miz would take the fall to Big E and lose the championships. Combine this with a loss to the Lucha House Party and it might be the end of this reunion. Their chemistry is failing, and their egos will explode.
Better Rivals Than Friends
After they broke up in the past, prior to Morrison leaving WWE, they proved to have incredible chemistry as opponents. They clashed over the WWE Championship during the reign of The Miz, with an incredible Falls Count Anywhere match on Monday Night RAW in 2011. With both men having improved tenfold since that match, they could do something truly special to follow this up 9 year later.
John Morrison Can Be A Major Singles Star For WWE
In his time outside of WWE, John Morrison took many last names but you could have just called him Johnny Champion. He became Lucha Underground Champion, AAA Mega Champion, and Impact World Champion. Even before leaving WWE, he won the Intercontinental Championship 3 times and the ECW Heavyweight Championship once. While this tag team reunion with The Miz was a fine way to reintroduce him, the Ladder Match at Wrestlemania showed that he belongs on his own. He wanted matches with people like Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns when he came back to WWE, and to do that he will need to become a singles star.
