There are only two former winners of Money In The Bank in this years match. On the mens side, we only have King Corbin & Daniel Bryan. However, unlike Corbin, Bryan was successful when he cashed in his briefcase to win the World Heavyweight Championship from The Show in 2011. Nearly a decade later, will he have a chance to repeat history and win his sixth world title? Will Daniel Bryan be the one to climb the corporate ladder?
Daniel Bryan Could Be Done With Full Time Wrestling Later This Year
News broken earlier this year than Daniel Bryan has already been eying the end of his full time WWE career. With him building up Drew Gulak as a possible replacement, and planning to take time off later this year with the birth of his second child, he won’t be around for a good chunk of this year. This makes him a hard sell as the winner of Money In The Bank.
That said, Bryan would have a full year to cash in the Money In The Bank contract, and having him win the briefcase and vanishing off TV for a while could really help to add some drama. He could show up at any time and become WWE Universal Champion, which would be an interesting way to use this opportunity. Even if Daniel Bryan is done with full time wrestling, one of the most frequent champions in recent years is Brock Lesnar, showing that WWE doesn’t mind their champions not being a full time member of the roster.
Still Involved With The WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn
While he has been away from TV in recent weeks, Daniel Bryan is intended to still be feuding with Sami Zayn over the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Their match at Wrestlemania 36 left a lot to be desired, and fans know there is a much better match to be had. We might need to wait a while longer, but this is the intended path for Bryan for 2020. He very well could be a two time WWE Intercontinental Champion before he is a two time winner of Money In The Bank.
Daniel Bryan would be a risky choice to give the Money In The Bank contract to. He very well could vanish from TV with it, but he is a steady fan favorite. If they don’t want to build a new star from this match, Daniel Bryan isn’t a terrible choice. He is unlikely to leave with the briefcase, but anything can happen in WWE!
