For many years, Jerry Lawler has held a unique niche within WWE. He was both one of the lead commentators within WWE since he made his debut, but was also able to step into the ring at a moments notice at a top level. There have been no one else for years who could do the same. Former wrestlers like Corey Graves, Beth Phoniex, David Otunga and Nigel McGuniness all bring the same type of analysis to the table, but were unable to step into the ring like Lawler did. However, WWE now has someone to fill this niche in Samoa Joe.

After a long career of hard hitting matches, the body of Samoa Joe has more wear and tear than most on the roster, and the effects are clear. In the past few years, he has been on and off from the ring, with him seeming to get injured at every turn. He would get injured in matches, he would get injured shooting commercials, and fans are waiting to get a report that he has hurt himself at the commentary desk where he current resides. Wanting to keep him on TV due to his popularity, WWE gave him a chance on commentary which he knocked out of the park. due to this, he has become the perfect person to fill the niche of Lawler.

Due to his legacy as one of the biggest ass-kickers of the 2000’s, Samoa Joe still has an aura about him that makes it believable that at any time, he could become a champion. He might have lost every single World Championship match he has gotten in WWE since leaving NXT, but fans still believe every single time that he gets a shot that it will finally happen. This alone makes Samoa Joe possibly one of the most valuable men on the WWE roster. He has shown some insane levels of adaptability, something few in the company can match.
