Heading back to the Knockouts division, another newcomer, well, re-newcomer? Deonna Purrazzo shared her emotional journey as she worked to return to Impact Wrestling, and then quickly made her intent felt by attacking Knockouts Champion, Jordynn Grace, and slapping her submission on her a second time
This week, Purrazzo was being interviewed about those attacks, and she made a point to point out she’s not there to brawl, but to be a champion. Because of her attacks and declaring herself future champion, Alisha Edwards came out to defend the Knockout hierarchy (ie her spot, most likely) and called her out. The two would meet up in the ring later in the night.

Purrazzo dominated from the start, attempting several submission holds that Alisha was able to escape out of them, including the Koji Clutch, which left Purrazzo to find new and inventive ways to break Alisha’s arm.
Alisha fought back with some strikes, but after a hard hitting running knee and a Rusion legsweep, Purrazzo locked in her Fujiwara Armbar for the submission win.
With the match over, Jordynne Grace ran out to get her revenge, but Purrazzo slid out of the ring, leaving Grace to offer her a chance for the Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary on July 19.
This match really showed Purrazzo’s improvement in submission holds as she appears to go to them right away. It’s going to be interesting to see how well balanced her attacks and defenses are when Grace gets her in the ring and it turns from a technical match to a possible slobber knocker.
Everything played out as Purrazzo wanted, but it leaves a lot to be desired if things will continue to go her way with a larger and more powerful opponent. Purrozzo’s speed and skill will be needed, but if Grace gets a hold of her and turns it into a brawl, it could be all over.
This was a great match and introduction for anyone that hadn’t see Purrazzo wrestle before. Following her sneak attacks on Grace, this helped to set her up as a legitimate threat to Grace and it should be one of the best matches of the pay-per-view.
What’s even more fun is Madison Rayne’s enthusiasm for this new Knockouts division, and it’s infectious. Their talent is arguably the best in professional wrestling, and they really got a good push in the show with other segments being cut.
