It has been rumored for weeks, and now it’s finally reality. When Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows were released from WWE, everyone knew they would be amongst the first to find more work. They could go back to Japan, where they made their names in New Japan Pro Wrestling as both single stars in the case of Anderson, and one of the best tag teams in the game. There was also AEW, started by some Bullet Club alumni in The Young Bucks, Cody and Kenny Omega, where they also would have been welcomed. However, it was the third most likely option that has come true for them. They’re heading to Impact Wrestling, to raise their tag division even higher.
Impact Wrestling’s Tag Division Is Currently A One Team Show
In Impact Wrestling, the Tag Team Championships have been held for over a year now by Ethan Page & Josh Alexander, also known as The North. They’ve beaten all comers, and have long lamented that there is no good competition for them in the company anymore. That is about to change.
Page is well ready for this, having called out Gallows on Twitter to come and have come classic moments with them, and that will absolutely be the case. Gallows & Anderson are about to put on their best tag team matches on American soil with The North, and Impact Wrestling is going to be better for it.
Add in that Heath Slater is teasing a debut for Impact Wrestling, where he’d reunite with Rhyno, and that’s two huge gets for a long stale tag team division.
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows non-compete deals are done on the same day as Impact’s Slammiversary PPV, so we can reasonably expect them to show up there.
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows Have Deals To Work Both Impact Wrestling & New Japan Pro Wrestling
As per Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, fans of New Japan Pro Wrestling have something to look forward to as well. Once travel restrictions are lifted, we will be seeing Gallows & Anderson back in New Japan Pro Wrestling as well. They got the joint-contracts they were looking for, and can raise that tag division as well.
Hopefully Karl Anderson can get another singles run out of this, as he would make a perfect IWGP United States Champion, having previously been the top gaijin in the company for many years. He would quickly remind everyone that he’s just as good alone as with a tag team, having taken men like Okada & Tanahashi to their limits in the past.
