WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House continues. Johnny Gargano’s entrance suggests the In Your House set is legitimately his house and he’s coming out with the key, the same one he used to gouge Lee’s eyes in a mixed tag match a few weeks ago. He takes on Keith Lee for the North American Championship up next!
NXT North American Championship: Keith Lee (c) vs. Johnny Gargano
“Bask In His Glory” chant goes on as the bell rings. Lee grabs a wrist and just tosses him across the ring. Gargano wants a headlock but Lee is holding him up in the air like he’s Marko Stunt, just tosses him – though it does seem Johnny got a thumb to the eye in there. Johnny with a series of shots to little effect, ducks a spinning backfist and also has to evade a spin kick that leaves him cornered! Johnny charges but Keith’s too big for that and he just falls. Lures him to the outside, Johnny goes for a Suicide Dive but Lee catches him out of the air and holds him like a child! He wants a powerbomb, Johnny slips to the apron, wants a cannonball but Lee catches him out of the air again, holding him upside down! Johnny rakes the eyes to escape, Lee sidesteps a kick and Johnny kicks the steps, Lee batters him around.
Johnny decides to call it quits on this, goes up the ramp and attempts to open the door but it’s locked! Lee stalks up to him, big double hand chop and he tosses him down the ramp! Gargano slips back into the ring, attacks Lee on his way back inside. He’s hammering him, Lee tosses him aside but Johnny keeps coming. Attacks the injured hand, bending the fingers. Lee with a biel, pulls him from the corner, knee the gut, powerful left hand to the face! Running Enziguri from Gargano takes him to a knee! Forearm, driving punches! Crossfaces Lee as he stomps at the hands! Corner Ten Punches, except they’re actually shots to the eye. Lee shoves him away but Gargano still grinding him into the corner. Lee shoves him away, Johnny with a charging kick to the face and grinds his wrist band against the eyes!
Now Gargano has that injured hand and he’s grinding it against the metal of the turnbuckle! Johnny back into the ring to cover, Lee kicks out immediately. Johnny singles out the arm, subtly driving the thumb in the eye, he’s working over both injuries at once. Pulls him to a seated position. Lee fighting his way to his feet here with Johnny on his back! He manages to escape but Gargano with an elbow to the back of the head, stomps, springing elbow drop for a nearfall! Fishhooks in now, pulls him to his knees, closed fists now. Ref is checking on Lee. Johnny asks that we bask in his glory as the crowd chants about Johnny sucking.
Lee trying to fight his way back with body shots, Lee grabs his wrist to stop him! Hammers him with forearms! Misses a shot in the corner, Gargano with an enziguri! Tries for his spear but Lee sidesteps! Reverse Hip Toss/Backbreaker for a nearfall! Trying for a powerbomb, Gargano slips through the legs to escape. Lefts and rights, but Lee with one huge forearm sends him to the mat! Johnny tries a few more shots but Lee with another massive forearm! Gargano with a series more, hits the ropes, Lee pops him up for a Spirit Bomb but Gargano with a Cross-Armbreaker out of the air even as Lee is holding him up! He lifts him slowly but Gargano grinds the fingers to make him lower him! Lee curls him again but Gargano escapes, series of clotheslines – tries for a Discus but Lee counters with a big lariat for a nearfall!
Keith looking for the Spirit Bomb… Johnny grabs the hand, heels to the eye! Lee tries to lift him up but Gargano with a Sunset Flip for a clooose nearfall! “Gargano Suuucks” chant to the tune of the usual Cena Sucks melody. Short headbutts from Johnny, kicking him in the head. Lee fights his way up, hoists him up for a Tilt-A-Whirl, Gargano escapes, superkick – Lee responds with a headbutt! Looking for the Big Bang Catastrophe but Gargano with a cradle reversal for a nearfall! Hits the ropes, Lee counters with a huge Chokeslam! Gargano rolls out to the floor to avoid the pin.
This gives him a good breather but Lee eventually gets him back into the ring. As he tries to pull his away up, Gargano with a swift kick to the injured hand! Tope Suicida into a Tornado DDT!! Johnny realizes now though he has to get him back in the ring as a count out won’t help him! He struggles with the dead weight for a bit, Johnny slips back in to demand the ref stop. He slips back out, the count restarted… LEE WITH A POUNCE SENDS GARGANO THROUGH THE PLEXIGLASS!!
Keith pulling Gargano across the stage, he’s totally limp. He hoists Gargano onto his shoulder! As he carries him, Candice LaRae comes out, but Mia Yim is there to stop her! They resume their fight, it spills into the ring! As the ref deals with this, Johnny reaches into the trunks… he takes the key to Lee’s eyes!! One Final Beat nailed! BUT LEE KICKS OUT?! I thought for sure that was it, damn! Gargano is stunned! DIY Superkick for a nearfall, and then a second for another!! He just keeps going, another kick for a third nearfall!! Lee struggling his way up, Johnny stomps the hand! He starts talking trash but Lee with a goozle! Thrusts him up to his shoulders for a COLOSSAL SPIRIT BOMB! Lee shaking his head as he stands… stares at his injured hand and roars! Another powerbomb then he hoists him up into a Big Bang Catastrophe! That is that!
Winner: Keith Lee
Well, I’m 1-2 on predictions so far, that ain’t great… helluva match though! Looks like they want to make Lee into standard bearing North American champ.
