Ever since Timothy Thatcher would defeat Matt Riddle in the first ever Fight Pit match within NXT, he’s been a feared member of the roster. They’ve been running videos of him teaching ‘Thatch as Thatch Can’ wrestling to faceless rookies, showing how to properly and calmly apply submissions while his trainees cry out in pain. He’s almost becoming a Stu Hart like character, someone whos tough as nails and wants to stretch rookies to make them tough.
Since the Riddle match, no one has been brave enough to call him out, but that has now changed as an old rival wants him in the ring.
Oney Lorcan Always Wants A Fight
Every time the bell rings in an Oney Lorcan match, someone gets their ass kicked. Much like Thatcher, he’s tough as nails and treats every match like it’s his last. He’s highly physical, not flashy at all, and it just boils down to a flat out fight. During his time on 205 Live, he’s expressed more of a technical wrestling side, but that usually devolves into him beating down opponents with strikes that echo throughout the arena.
Now, he’s picked a fight with Thatcher through Twitter. He made this very clear by tweeting the following. “GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER GIVE ME TIM THATCHER”
That doesn’t leave much to interpritation, and makes it very clear. Unfortunately for Oney, Tim doesn’t have Twitter, making this challenge fall on deaf ears at this time.
They’ve Clashed Before
Due to their hard hitting styles meshing perfectly, they were common opponents on the indies. They’ve met 8 times, last being in WXW in 2019. They’re even tied four wins a piece in their encounters, making this all the better of a challenge for NXT.
It would be the perfect way to get Thatcher over as the no-nonsense asskicker they’re building him into. Oney Lorcan is someone who can dish out a realistic beating, and take one right back. While they should have Thatcher destroy some Performance Center talents first, no one will complain if they rush this match.
