Dakota Kai would cost her team the win at NXT Takeover: In Your House. A miscommunication led to her booting Raquel Gonzalez in the face, which left her alone with Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackheart. One shining wizard later, and she was down. Looking to bounce back from this loss, she would face Kacy Catanzaro this week on NXT. Can Kai beat the scrappy underdog, or will her losing ways stick?
Dakato Kai Proves She Isn’t A Loser
Gonzalez despite their issues at Takeover would be in the corner of Kai. Catanzaro wouldn’t be bullied in this match despite being smaller than Kai, shoving back. She’d be pushed into the corner, but while Kai bickered with the referee, Catanzaro would jump over the top rope, sweep the leg and hit a senton. Kai would slip to the outside, sweep the leg herself and look for a kick. Catanzaro would dodge and hit a headscissors, and back in the ring nail a somersault kick.
Kai wouldn’t look to be impressive and athletic, and just smash her opponents face into the turnbuckle before hitting a huge running kick for a near fall. She’d rush Catanzaro again but be caught in a roll up, before Catanzaro would fire up and show her aggressive side. Some strikes in the corner would beat down Kai, but it wouldn’t take much to get Catanzaro on her shoulders for the Go To Kick, ending this one quick.
Kacy Catanzaro Gets Beat Down In Post Match
After staring down the camera and calling out Io Shirai and declaring she will be the next champion, she’d turn her attention back to Catanzaro with some stomps. However, backup would not be far behind as her Team Ninja friend Kayden Carter would rush the ring to help. The firey rookie would do wonders to take out both Kai & Gonzalez, even kicking off Kai to try and hit Gonzalez with a DDT. The power of Gonzalez would stop this, and Carter would take a Chokeslam for her troubles. This was a great way to introduce Team Ninja to WWE TV, with them being mostly used on the Florida Loop within NXT.
This sets up a tag team match for the future. Could Carter & Catanzaro beat Kai & Gonzalez? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
