The NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament was great, but all great things come to an end eventually. The finals saw Drake Maverick lose to El Hijo Del Fantasma in an excellent match. Fantasma got the title, but Maverick got a contract and is now a fully contracted member of the NXT roster. Without the stress of losing his job on his mind, he has something to say to Fantasma.
Drake Maverick Wants Another Shot
Coming down to the ring and interrupting Fantasmas victory speech, Maverick would praise Fantasma for his performance. However, he knows he can beat him. He beat KUSHIDA twice, he beat Tony Nese, and if his head was more clear, he’d have beaten Fantasma too. He’d ask for another shot, and Fantasma agreed.
The Masked Men Are Back
Just as they would shake hands to make this all officiall, two masked men would come down to the ring. These are the same men who interupted the finals of the tournament, who have been seemingly stalking Fantasma for weeks now. Maverick bravely fought them off last week, only to enter the ring to a superkick and Phantom Driver, nearly ending his WWE career. Now they’re back to finish what they started, but they aren’t alone.
El Hijo Del Fantasma Is The Mastermind, Renames Himself To Santos Escobar
It was the worst kept secret in professional wrestling, but El Hijo Del Fantasma had one. As Maverick and him stood back to back to face the masked men, Fantasma would turn and stare down Maverick before hitting a huge headbutt. We always figured he was behind these kidnappings, having worked with Raul Mendoza on house shows before coming to TV. Now we know for sure, Fantasma winning the title makes a lot more sense now. They would beat down Maverick and stand tall on this night. No longer is he El Hijo Del Fantasma, as he would unmask and tell the NXT fans he’s Santos Escobar. The masked men would be revealed as Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde, which was known for weeks by fans.
