Sometimes you don’t know what you got until it’s gone, and I feel this will be the case very soon with Kairi Sane. After 3 years within WWE, she is scheduled to work her final date of the company tonight , then return to Japan. This has been rumored for several weeks now, but came to action faster than expected.
Will She Get Her Match With Asuka?
Barely a week ago now, Asuka would name Kairi Sane as a potential challenger for her RAW Women’s Championship. Many assumed this would happen at Summerslam or the rumored Evolution II, but we might have to settle for Monday Night RAW. Given the current climate of WWE, if this match happens, it will be interrupted by Sasha Banks & Bayley after about ten minutes and devolve into a tag team match.
Even still, this is a dream match that many fans want to see, and both Sane & Asuka want this match as well. Despite being tag team partners, it won’t take much to set this one up. Just have Asuka reclaim her RAW Women’s Championship, then defend the title against her best friend the next week to get her a proper sendoff.
Kairi Sane Had A Good WWE Run
While she never became RAW or Smackdown Women’s Champion, Kairi Sane was able to have a good run within WWE. She won the first ever Mae Young Classic, defeating Shayna Baszler in the finals, and Tessa Blanchard, Bianca Belair, and Dakota Kai to reach that point. After this, she would be sent to the NXT brand, where she again defeated Shayna Baszler, this time to become the NXT Women’s Champion. Holding that title alone puts you in a high place in WWE, as only the best of the best have held that championship.
Following her NXT run, she would be put alongside Asuka on RAW & Smackdown as The Kabuki Warriors, where they would be one of the best parts of the WWE Women’s Tag Team division. They would hold the revived WWE Women’s Tag Team titles for 180 days, the longest reign in the belts history.
It wasn’t a great run, and she never truly got to show everyone exactly how good she is. She intends to have another run in Japan before retirement, and is going back home to be with her husband. You can’t fault her for that.
