WWE 2K Battlegrounds was in development before WWE 2K21 was cancelled, this should be said before we go more into details of the game. Now that’s settled, let’s begin. The game is a completely different take on the WWE 2K21 games. Swapping the realism and simulator style and going fully into arcade mode. With silly-looking characters and funny mechanics like throwing a Superstar into a crocodile’s mouth. As well as some crazy moves with all flashy new effects like fire, ice and loads of other weird things to make this game completely different from what we’ve played in the past couple of years.
The Campaign seems pretty special
At the start of the campaign, you’ll be choosing from 7 wrestlers. Then you’ll go through different areas and compete against different wrestlers to gain a WWE contract. There’s no saying that the campaign will evolve after containing the contract. There will be a lot of different wrestlers though from now and the past. That will make a lot of fans happy and with the promise of more to come for free. The only way they’ll keep it fresh and fans happy with this game is by not adding extra cost to the game.
Hmm, will it be good?
If this is done right and not have any microtransaction or loot boxes or anything, it could be a very good game. It dives into the craziness of wrestling that no other game has really done. If they do this right and go fully into the craziness, it could be really fun to play. It has a campaign and apparently over 70 wrestling to choose from including Kalisto and Stone Cold Steve Austin. This will give major replayability for the game. There’s also an online mode and other modes to keep things interesting. It does feel like this could be WWE’s last chance at making a good game, so if this is bad, it could be the last WWE game we see.
