This one is 100% speculation on our part, but it seems likely that Kairi Sane will return. There’s a certain feeling that coming to her partner and friend, Asuka, against Bayley and Sasha Banks is perfect.
It’d be a fun old school storybook angle we haven’t seen too much of lately as tag teams have more than not disappeared when one of them was injured or took a leave. For that, this would make perfect sense and really get fans invested in what could happen between the foursome.
But there’s another angle we could be seeing.
Kairi Sane vs. Nia Jax
Sane hasn’t wrestled sine Jax split her head open with a botched buckle bomb into the ring stairs on May 26. During that time, Jax has been pushed as a top challenger for Asuka’s Raw Women’s Championship, but the timing is perfect for Sane to return and exact some revenge.
Of course, we mean in a storyline. The WWE has made a lot of money using people’s real life tragedies (Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, Jeff Hardy, etc) so this wouldn’t be anything different except they could build it up for a grudge or no holds barred match between Sane and Jax at Extreme Rules.
Sane would return and want her pound of flesh, and rightfully so. It’d make for great television and get our attention on the women’s division outside of the championships.
The fact that there are plenty of rumors out there that Sane will be returning to Japan with her husband shortly and that the WWE is going to keep her off television. This could just be a red herring to get us thinking one thing while they do another. At least, we hope so. WWE Raw would be an awesome opportunity to start the storyline and have it complete at Extreme Rules with Sane walking away victorious.
This all depends on Sane’s plans and schedule and what the WWE intends to do with her. As we mentioned in the beginning, this is purely speculation on our part, but we think it would be an awesome storyline to run for the next couple of weeks to give everyone a bit of closure.
Then there’s the potential for Sane and Asuka to challenge Bayley and Banks for the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Again, this comes down to availability and timing, but it’d be a pretty cool angle to run if they can make it work.
