Backstage, R-Truth approached Mustafa Ali about him being on the VIP Lounge and asked him if he wanted his 24/7 Championship.
Ali pointed out he wasn’t, that he had a match against Bobby Lashley, and Truth said he’d keep his eye on him as we headed to commercial.
VIP Lounge with Mustafa Ali
WWE Raw Results and Recap returned from commercial ready for the Hurt Business to greet Ali in the VIP Lounge.
After his typical insult at how he and Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin are better than everyone, MVP got into how he wants to help Ali “See the light.”
Ali came out, cautious to what could happen.
Lashley took his shirt off, and that’s never a good thing.
MVP said he wanted to show Ali what it was like to be one of them, and cited if he doesn’t accept he’d be a dissatisfied client like Ricochet and Cedric Alexander.
Ali rubbed some salt in the wound created by beating the Hurt Business last week, and that he’s happy to be back, climb the ladder, and become a “real” champion.
MVP brushed the insult off and said he can become a champion as long as he makes the right decisions.
Ali refused him, citing he thinks for himself and won’t be brainwashed like “These two meatheads.”
MVP pointed out he was going to face Lashley later tonight, and then cited out Apollo Crews thought like he did and is now at home on the couch.
“You can be a champion, or you can be chum in the water for predators.”
Ali once more refused, but seeing Benjamin take off his shirt and R-Truth sneaking up on him, he delayed, acting like he changed his mind.
R-Truth pulled Benjamin out of the ring and nearly pinned him on the floor before he had to slip away and head backstage.
Mustafa Ali vs. Bobby Lashley
The match started with Ali dancing around the ring, trying not to get cornered. He then walked up to Lashley and was shoved across the ring.
Another charge was meant the same way, and was followed by a clothesline and another across the ring throw.
Lashley hit with a spear in the corner, and Lashley then pummeled Ali until he dropped.
Lashley continued to pummel Ali, then instead of a supex, Lashley shoved him into a corner.
Lashley went for another suplex and held Ali up for a while, but the match was paused as Akira Tozawa nearly pinned Benjamin for the 24/7 championship.
Benjamin threw Tozawa into the barrier, then the Hurt Business took out a group of ninjas until Ali hit Lashley from behind with a suicide dive and sent him head first into the barricade.
Ali won’t give up
Back from commercial, Lashley’s back in control in the ring as he choked him out on the bottom rope.
Ali fought out of a backdrop, but was caught off the ropes and was sent back outside of the ring.
Lashley then sent Ali off the ring post head first. Another toss into the barricade followed.
MVP talked some smack by asking Ali if he made the right choice, then Lashley threw him into the ring where Ali kicked out of his pin attempt.
Ali continued to fight back, but Lashley caught him with a Flat Liner, but Ali kicked out.
Ali tried to pull himself up by using Lashley’s legs, then fought out of a press slam and Dominator.
Ali caught Lashley with a boot to the face and a satellite DDT to give himself a chance.
Ali rolled through a 450 splash and was caught in a full nelson where he tapped out.
Backstage, Dolph Ziggler was approached about what he thought about Drew McIntyre’s stipulation.
He said he didn’t care, but he’ll be going to SummerSlam as WWE Champion to face Randy Orton.
