Welcome to another Friday night and another WWE Smackdown! I’m your host, CP Bialois, and it’s great to see you all.
There’s potential for a fun show tonight, with a lineup that includes. a re-airing of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt’s Money in the Bank match as well as Jeff Hardy appearing on Miz TV and some other goodies to enjoy..
Segment 1:
The show opened with Miz TV, where they showed a pretty cool promo video on Jeff Hardy and Sheamus’ rivalry thus far, with match highlights and last week’s toast.
Miz and Morrison mocked him, and Jeff responded by saying he would be a beacon of light for anyone struggling with addiction.
Jeff accepted the Miz’s challenge of Jeff facing Sheamus in a bar fight at Extreme Rules. He then pointed out Miz and Morrison didn’t expect to be able to call him out and mock him and not get punched out. He attacked them and it looks like we’re heading for a match right after the commercial.
Segment 2:
Jeff Hardy vs. the Miz
Back from the commerical with the match having started (shocking, right?). The Miz controlled most of the action until Jeff caught him off the rope with a Twist of Fate, but Morrison pulled Miz out of the ring before Jeff could hit with a swanton bomb. So, Jeff hit both of them with it outside the ring.
Segment 3:
A good match ended when Sheamus interrupted Jeff Hardy’s comeback vie the titantron to talk about what Jeff was missing by not drinking.
The Miz tried to take advantage of the distraction to roll up Jeff, but Jeff countered and rolled up Sheamus for the win instead.
Sasha Banks and Bayley were coming out to the ring when Nikki Cross Jumped on Bayley from behind on the ramp. Alexa Bliss soon joined in before the commercial. Guess we know what match is next.
Segment 4:
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley
The match started off with Bayley and Banks in charge, but Cross and Bliss gained control when Cross grabbed the Smackdown Women’s title and mocked Banks and Bayley while they complained to the announcers. Cross then ducked their attack and Bliss hit them with a dropkick.
Segment 5:
A fun back and forth ended when Banks threw Bliss into teh baricade, and Bayley rolled up a distraced Cross for the win. She also used the ropes for leverage.
Segment 6:
Bray Wyatt vs Braun Strowman Universal Championship re-air Money in the Bank Match.
Strowman started out dominating, but Wyatt turned the tide and nearly scored a pinfall after hitting a tornado DDT and Sister Abigail before the commerical break.
Segment 7:
After a back and forth, Strowman appears wearing his Wyatt family mask, but then stomps it after Wyatt let his guard down. A running power slam later and Strowman retained the Universal Championship.
Segment 8:
Karaoke Showdown with Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina, Naomi
Each contestant has 45 seconds to sing their favorite WWE theme and the audience will vote.
Thier choices in order were Jeff Jarrett’s “With my Baby Tonight,” The Honkly Tonk Man’s “Cool, Cocky, Bad,” Triple H’s “The Game,” and Dusty Rhode’s “Common Man.”
The crowd chose Naomi’s version of Dusty Rhodes’ theme with the biggest pop. Seriously.
Naomi was named the winner, and Evan jumped her from behind when she started to sing her encore.
Only in Vince McMahon’s world.
Segment 9:
Naomi vs. Lacey Evans
This match lasted a minute before Evans was knocked out of the ring and shoved Brooke and Tamina, which resulted in everyone but Evans in the ring brawling. Evans was smart enough to head up the ramp in what I’m assuming is the beginning of a heel turn.
AJ Styles was interviewed backstage and learned he will defend the Intercontinental Championship next week against Matt Riddle.
Segment 10:
Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match – The NEw Day vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.
After having early control, Kingston turned the momentum and he and Big E hit Cesaro with Unicron kicks, but when Big E Launched Kingston over the ropes to their opponents on the floor, Cesaro met him with an uppercut.
Segment 11:
A furious back and forth continued before the New Day lost by disqualification when Big E attacked Cesaro. The referee was already losing control of it.
After the match, Cesaro powerbombed Kingston through Big E and a table from the top rope, sending another message that they won’t be denied.
That’s all for for us this week. This was a pretty fun show minus a couple of moments.
Which was your favorite match and what do you think of next week’s matches? Let us know in the comments.
