Getting to the top of the Impact Wrestling tag team division was Chris Saban and Alex Shelley’s goal when they signed with Impact Wrestling and appeared at Slammiversary.
They achieved this in their first match by defeating The North (Ethan Page and Josh Alexander) who happened to be the longest reigning tag team champions in Impact history.
Last week, Alexander mentioned their rematch clause, demanding they have the opportunity to get back their championships. His partner, Page, is a shell of himself as he finally has nothing to say.
While there’s little doubt there’ll be a rematch, this segment is meant to address other things, as the Motor City Machine Guns are going to sit down with Jimmy Jacobs.
They’re expected to discuss what the championship means to them, how important winning the belts for a second time is, and what we can expect from their current run.
But we expect there’s going to be something else.
The North
While this could easily be a simple interview to reacquaint fans with the team, we won’t be surprised if The North interrupts the interview.
This is something that’s done so often in professional wrestling that it’s more surprising when an interview goes off without a hitch.
We’re thinking one of the two interviews promoted for the night will go off without a hitch, and it won’t be this one.
We could be wrong, but we feel it’s doubtful that the North wouldn’t approach them and demand their rematch face to face or simply attack Sabin and Shelley to force their hand.
Rich Swann’s moment
Rich Swann had planned to make a triumphant return to the ring after being out for seven months with an injury, but Eric Young’s attack put any return in jeopardy.
Last week via satellite, Swann explained that his doctors have explained several things to him, but he felt he needed to address these in person.
He mentioned the possibility of not being able to wrestle, but when he reaches the Impact Zone, we expect him to be full of fire and ready to decimate Young when he’s healthy.
It’s going to be great to se Rich Swann at the Impact Zone again, and it’s going to be even more fun when, if we’re right, he’ll display the fire and fight we love as he’ll refuse to give up.
While Eric Young will be on his list of paybacks, there is the chance that he may be playing up his injury and will challenge Eddie Edwards for the Impact World Championship.
While that’s unlikely, we do expect a great segment with the former X Division champion. His announcement should be one to remember.
Hopefully for the right reasons.
