Drake Maverick might have saved his career in WWE during the NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament, but things haven’t been going his way since then. He’s failed to get revenge on Santos Escobar, or notch many wins. His last match with Killian Dain was shut down by Undisputed Era.
Tonight he steps into the WWE Thunderdome to face the brash and cocky Tehuti Miles. Can Miles bring more misfortune to the former 205 Live general manager?
Tehuti Miles Needed To Make Sure His Hair Was Just Right
The bell would ring, and Miles would take his time taking off all his entrance gear, ensuring that his fanny pack remains near the ring. Maverick would get frustrated as Miles stood on the outside combing his hair until he got a five count. Getting back into the ring, they’d lock up and Miles’ power and size get him an advantage, shoving Maverick to the ground and walking over his back.
He’d go back to his corner to fix his hair, getting Maverick even more frustrated. This time, Maverick would hit a big running dropkick, sending Miles to the outside. A dive off the apron would drop Miles as well, but then Maverick would be flapjacked onto the apron. Maverick would go spine first into the ring post, giving Miles full control.
Drake Maverick Overcomes The Size Disadvantage
A headlock in the middle of the ring would see Maverick fight back, but he’d be struck back down to the mat. Maverick would go for some crafty pinning predicaments for two near falls, but going for a sunset flip would lead to Maverick being lifted up. Things would get sloppy as Miles would nearly drop Maverick, but a big clothesline got this back on track.
Some heavy elbow drops and some grandstanding would frustrate Maverick even more, Miles arrogance shining through. There was some fight left in Maverick who would fire back with some right hands in the middle of the ring, followed by a series of leg lariats. A running elbow into a bulldog, a senton to the lower back, and he’d go up top for the elbow drop to the face. Miles was on the ropes and Maverick would run up the corner to hit the Underdog Cutter.
This was a good and very needed win for Drake Maverick, while Tehuti Miles continues to find his place in the lowercard of 205 Live. Will Maverick find the passion he had in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament again? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
